Insect Inversions Chord Inversion Game - Printable

A Fun & Engaging Way to Teach Chord Inversions!

Make learning chord inversions an adventure! Insect Inversions is an exciting, interactive game designed to help students master root position, first inversion, and second inversion in a way that actually sticks. Instead of drilling flashcards or filling out worksheets, students will race their ants through the rainforest, identifying inversions along the way.

With two levels of challenge, this game is perfect for elementary to intermediate students and can be used in private lessons, group classes, or independent learning.

Why You’ll Love It:

Engaging, hands-on learning – No more boring theory drills!
Two challenge levels – Start with keyboard-based inversions and move up to staff notation.
Flexible for any teaching setting – Works for private lessons, classrooms, and homeschoolers.
Easy to set up & play – Print, cut, and start playing!

Take the struggle out of teaching inversions—get Insect Inversions today!

  2. Choose appropriate level cards and shuffle. • If you have a multi-level group, you can use both levels and have students pick from their level cards.
  3. Players take turns picking 1 card per turn.
  4. They must correctly identify the inversion, then move to that place on the board. • Specialty cards: • Queen ant: switch places with the player closest to finish • Worker ant: switch places with the player closest to start • Cut leaves: stay where you are for 1 turn
  5. If you run out of cards, reshuffle the discards and create a new draw pile.
